Billy Swanepoel
Billy learned to sculpt as a teenager in the studio of his uncle Bobby. Professionally Billy works in the nature conservation sector and has a keen eye for animal form and proportion. His love of wildlife is reflected in his bronzes, many of which are inspired by actual sightings of animals in the bush. His 40 years of experience in the African bush give him a unique understanding of animals and their form, as evident in his beautiful sculptures.
Billy works in Mozambique but gets home to White River as often as possible to spend time with his wife Lisa and daughters Teya and Agena.

Matsulu Bull
The Matsulu Bull was a very relaxed solitary bull, who Billy watched grow old. Named for the area of the reserve that he frequented, he was seen and photographed by hundreds of visitors to the Mthethomusha Game Reserve in Mpumalanga, South Africa where Billy was warden.
